A few of the 2025 NWSL kits leaked and the Utah Royals are still out here with their America First Credit Union sponsor across their chest (the team also plays at America First Field).
Fans have for years been asking the club to reconsider the sponsorship, due to the fascist implications of the phrase “America First.” In light of Trump’s re-election and Elon Musk’s government coup over the weekend, it really feels like time for the team to either retire the sponsorship or revisit how they display it on their kits. The defense of the name “ignores the complex and hateful history of the name and the ongoing effects of American nationalism and white supremacy that ‘America First’ expresses,” supporters groups for the Washington Spirit and D.C. United said in a statement last year. Supporters groups for the Chicago Red Stars and North Carolina Courage also put out statements.
